Chicago Wood
Adaptable Brand Identity
Chicago’s historic buildings are filled with amazing wood, some pieces over a hundred years old. As renovations take place, some of this wood is removed and thrown out. Chicago Wood has a mission to rescue the wood, restore it into functional pieces of furniture, art and products, and create an education about the rich history of the wood.
This brand identity concept was created by Stacy Lubin as Senior Designer at Studio North in North Chicago, IL.

Restoring Chicago’s Architectural Wood and Sharing its history
Their new brand identity reflects the clean, modern style of the products and provides flexibility to mark physical pieces of wood with the source of the wood, either a specific historic building or a neighborhood.

Process
Geometric shapes and typography were used to create initial sketches, more refined concepts and a final logo mark. The CW mark can stand alone in a square or circle for social media applications, or the full treatment can be used to stamp the restored wood.
